Stakeout

Today we had a surveyor stake out the corners of the house to prepare for excavation. Staking out the house puts it into perspective for us. It's nice to see where our final pad will sit, which makes it appear much larger than it seems on the plans.

This step is very critical because it could make the difference in whether or not the concrete walls (and everything else in turn) end up square.

I have to admit that seeing one of the corners (the one pictured above that is closest to the wash) makes me a little nervous about flooding. It would take an abnormally huge flood to get near the house, since it's about 15-20 ft above the level of the wash (about level with the street), but I will still worry until I see an actual Arizona monsoon in action there.
